UK-1, August 2012 (Flexible), Backyard Bible Camp, Poltava or Dnipropetrovsk, 12-20 Volunteers, Adults/Youth:  Backyard Bible Camp: This project’s purpose is to reach out to children and younger youth. Priority for the project will be given to a location where a young church needs strengthening. Ukrainian believers will be involved in helping to lead parts of the BYBC. Translators will be necessary for the group to do the project. They will be found by IMB personnel. Activities will include: Bible story time, crafts, games/recreation time. Children’s bibles or bible story books will be given to children on last day of project. To maximize effectiveness of this project, the BYBC can will be done twice a day, morning and afternoon, in two different locations. More info is available in a Word doc from Mike Ray as project develops.  Outcomes: Wherever BYBC projects are done, the seed of the gospel is sown in the lives of a large numbers of children. It also almost always significantly increases the number of children involved in the churches ministry and bridges with parents. It helps to build relationships in the community with parents as well as with the children.

UK-2, Preferred Fall 2012 (Flexible), Medical Project 1, Poltava or Dnipropetrovsk, 10-20 Volunteers, AdultsMedical projects are very effective in Ukraine at this time in drawing people for the purpose of sharing the gospel. Some of our goals in medical projects are: 1. To sow the seed of the gospel in as many lives as possible as they hear the gospel in the clinics and give literature.   2. To raise the level of respect and awareness for young evangelical church starts and churches in the community, thus developing more open doors for ministry. They help to develop a positive image for the church. 3. To acquaint as many unbelievers as possible with pastors/missionaries during the clinics – developing further relationships for witness and ministry. A one day clinic will draw more visitors than more churches will have in two years. 4. To meet the physical needs of those who come to the clinics. The majority of the clinics will be held in locations where we have smaller, younger churches, thus maximizing the effectiveness for working with lost people. Our medical projects are organized to move each day to a new location in order to maximize the number of people who hear the gospel. IMB field personnel will handle the logistics. We have been doing clinics for a number of years in our area.

UK-3, Preferred Fall 2012 (Flexible), Medical Project 2, Poltava or Dnipropetrovsk, 10-20 Volunteers, AdultsMedical projects are very effective in Ukraine at this time in drawing people for the purpose of sharing the gospel. UK-4, Fall of 2012 (Flexible), Student Fall English Project, Poltava or Dnipropetrovsk, 8-20 Volunteers, Adults/Students: Student to Student Project: In the city of Dnipropetrovsk (1.2 million) and Poltava (350,000), students are working together to reach out and evangelize lost students in their city. They have meetings with students, designed to reach out to unbelievers with an interesting program/atmosphere. 2011 would be the 6th year for AL to do this type of project in Poltava, and the first year for the city of Dnipropetrovsk. The student team will be a part of this overall strategy by going into classes in universities to do cultural exchange, focusing on English language in particular, which many students are actively studying. The team will need to be trained in interacting with students in a foreign culture by sharing things from their own culture and being able to offer constructive practice/interaction in English. Evangelistic activities would NOT be a part of class interaction time. After classes the students will further interact with Ukrainian students and invite them to a planned gathering in the evenings, coordinated with local student ministries. Ukrainians will plan and conduct much of the evening programs, which would include the participation of the American students. American students would provide the “bait” to attract new Ukrainian students to the student club, thus providing the opportunity for relationship building and evangelism. Outcomes:   To develop relationships with non-believing Ukrainian students, seeking to involve them in an ongoing student ministry in the city of Poltava, leading to relationship and evangelism opportunities for Ukrainian believers.

UK-5, Summer 2012 (Flexible), Backyard Bible Club and Better the Community – Priority #1, Kharkov,  10-12 Volunteers, Adults and Youth: We would like a team to come and provide Backyard Bible clubs and possibly playground construction/renewal in partnership with a local pastor and church. We will do playground construction (painting, clean-up, digging holes, pouring concrete, and setting up playground equipment) during the day (9 am-4 pm) and provide the Backyard Bible clubs in the early evening (5 pm-7 pm). If in an area where it is not possible to do construction/renewal, we will provide Backyard Bible club in 2 locations – morning and afternoon. Focus would be on areas where the outreach would either strengthen new church starts or lay a foundation of relationships in a new church start area.

UK-6, 2012 (Flexible), Prayer Walking and Teaching Prayer Walking Principles – Priority #2, Kharkov, 4-6 Volunteers, Adults and Youth: We will need a team to prayer walk during the day in strategic church planting areas, new work areas, and areas where are providing ongoing evangelism. This team will also need to be ready to teach and share principles of prayer walking in strategic, partnering churches during the evening. This team will support our primary goal of facilitating a church planting movement as our Lord invites us to, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). Prayer is the foundation that needs to be laid before we do anything else and we will have this team prayer walk the area(s) where future Alabama Baptists volunteer teams will be working.

UK-7, Summer 2012 (Flexible), Youth Outreach – Priority #3, Kharkov, 8-10 Volunteers, Ages 13-18: We need a church to come and provide youth outreach in partnership with a local church and their youth group to facilitate youth evangelism. Youth activities (i.e. sports-soccer/outdoor games, drama/skits, youth fellowships) can be used to aid us in reaching Ukrainian Youth in new church plant areas and to strengthen existing churches and their youth programs. The churches as a whole in Ukraine are not reaching the youth and we are losing them to the occult, eastern philosophies, materialism, alcohol and drugs, and sex. A general schedule of activities would look something like this: A.M.-Prayer walking the areas where will be providing the activities; Late morning drama/skits or sporting event (soccer); Lunch; Drama/skits or sporting event (soccer or outdoor games); Dinner; P.M.-Youth outreach services in local churches or new church plant areas. We want to see more youth reached for Christ, discipled, and become faithful, active members in existing churches and new church plants.  These youth will be the future leaders of the church and Ukraine.

UK-8, July 31-August 8, 2012 (Flexible), Day Camp for Kids in L’viv, Siheeve Region, 5-8 Volunteers, Ages 15-75: During the Soviet Union, children were afforded a summer camp where they could relax, enjoy nature, and receive a healthy dose of Communist indoctrination. Now the USSR is no more and most camps are decaying, but the children remain. Come and turn their concrete jungle of high-rise apartment buildings or the streets of their village into an exciting summer camp, and share with them a truly healthy dose of Jesus Christ. A local pastor would like to use a Day Camp as a way to build relationships to be able to share the gospel with the children and their parents. UK-20, August-December 2012 (Flexible), Kiev Prayer Walking, 3-6 (or more) High School and Adult VolunteersThe Kiev Church Planting Team partners with national partners who desire to plant new churches. The need is great. The city has around 3-4 million people and is divided into various regions. In one of the regions, Obolon, there are about 400,000 people that live and work. The region has 4 evangelical churches. It is one of the areas where we have targeted to start new churches. The ground work must be laid with prayer. The team would be involved with daily prayer walking. Our goal would be to prayer walk as much of one region as possible. A side goal would be to encourage the local missionary that they would be working together with. The length of stay would/could vary depending on the team. Multiple teams would be welcomed.

UK-21, July or August 2012 (Flexible), Day Camp for English Translators, Beregove, Zacarpattya, 4-5 Age 25-60 Adult VolunteersSeveral young people / and not very young people/ learn English language – including a pastor and wives of another pastors. It would be very essential to arrange a Language Study for them – increasing their abilities for translation. We always have problem to have enough translator when a volunteer group is coming. These local translators are able to translate on a certain level but that would be very important to develop their skills – especially in Biblical Language. The team could train the translators and give them lessons: 2 – 3 – 4 hours / day. Also the team would be asked to preach, make testimonies in different churches.

UK-22, April until September 2012, (Flexible), English Language (Study) Day Camp for Gypsies (Romas), Gat, Zacarpattya, 6-8 Age 20-60 Adult VolunteersThe Alabama Volunteer teams made an excellent job during the previous camps and also the Gypsy (more acceptable: the Roma) People love them very much. We started to build a Roma Church and Training Center and hopefully we will complete it until the end of 2011. We have plenty of children (50+) and several young people. They are very opened to learn language. To learn English would be a great tool to reach more young people and help them to increase their self esteem. Please consider that some of them (not many) are illiterate.

We started to build a Roma Church and Training Center and hopefully we will complete it until the end of 2011. We have plenty of children (50 – 100) and a Playground would be essential to reach the gypsy families by their children. We have a good size of lot around the Training Center.
